Burberry Prorsum Fall 2010 RTW Collection

Here are my top 7 picks from the Burberry Prorsum Fall 2010 RTW Collection:

I love this jacket. Military is a huge trend this season. This jacket just screams this trend.

I love this whole outfit... from the boots to the jacket.

I like but don't like this jacket. I like the shearling but don't really like how big and voluminous it is on her. Love the leather however!

Again I like but don't like this jacket. I like the color and stripes on the jacket but the shape and cut isn't really doing anything for the model. I adore the lace pencil skirt. So cute!

This just screams the military trend. From the jacket right down to the boots. I love the shape, cut and color of the coat.

I like the animal print mixed with the bright purple handbag and shoes. It is all mixed well together and very chic.

I adore this jacket. I love the fur trimming on the jacket. Also it is all white which makes it very classy and chic. The shoes make an interesting yet appealing touch to the outfit.

As you can tell from most of the pictures above Burberry delivered many military looks. There was practicality among the outfits but there was also some outfits that were over-sized and not suited for everyday. Great balance among the collection and wonderfully presented. I really like this collection and really presents a wonderful view of the fall 2010 trends.

What are your views on the collection?

P.S. Hope your all having a wonderful week! :)

Victoria Rowell’s Wedding Dress

Victoria Rowell’s Wedding Dress

We love the Jane Wilson-Marquis wedding dress that Victoria Rowell wore when she married Radcliffe Bailey on June 27 in New Hampshire. The gown is silk dipped and perfect for an outdoor setting with multiple layers and colors to create an ethereal effect. Wilson-Marquis gowns often use two or three

layers of silk to complement each other. Many designs evolve into a deconstructed version where one, two or three layers can be worn together or separately. Victoria’s dress includes layers of ivory and gold with a periwinkle sash.

A Mission: Find My Buddy Some Chocolate Brown Pumps

So, as many of you and many of my friends know how much I love to shop and scoure shopping sites for specialty items. My lovely friend Julia is looking for a very specific pair of chocolate brown pumps to add to her fall wardrobe. And she sent me a request to find these elusive shoes with the following restraints....
  • Brown pump suitable for work (she's a lawyer and in the court room often)
  • Heel height: 2-2.5" (comfortable enough to walk around in)
  • Some type of texture or embellishment on the shoe (she doesn't like the look of flat brown leather pumps)
  • Not insanely expensive (ok, I added this one in for good measure)
And here's what I came up with! Some of these host a bit taller of a heel, while some vary in color. I wanted to give Julia some options to wear with navy, brown, tan, etc.

So friends, how did I do? I like missions....

A tight fix First the bad news: bare-leg season is officially over. Now the good news: tights just got interesting

Some people can tell it's autumn by the turning of the leaves, the chilling of the air or the shifting back of the clock. For women who prefer skirts and dresses, however, there are only two seasons and they are grimly told thus: tights, and no tights. The ritual putting away and bringing out of hosiery is a biannual activity that demarcates the year more certainly than any other. The former is a joyful harbinger of summer; the latter dooms us to months of vaccuum-packed legs and the daily misery of rummaging through all those gangly, stretched old sheaths, trying to avoid the worst of the ladders, faded ankles, saggy knees and disobliging crotches.

"I work quite hard not to wear them," says Alexandra Shulman, editor of Vogue, who makes bare-leggedness sound like a professional occupation. "One of the most depressing days of the year is when you put on a pair of black opaque tights."

But this year is different. This year tights are not just tights. They are a fashion story, and naysaying just won't do. At the catwalk shows for autumn/winter, they stalked the runway bejewelled, spotted, chequered, swirly, striped and "laddered" (Miu Miu, Balenciaga, Marni, Chanel, Alexander McQueen and Jean Paul Gaultier respectively). In fact, so key are they for this season that Marc Jacobs even showed boots that try to pass themselves off as tights – super-skinny, patterned, with a black, shoe-like toe, and tall enough to prevent casual observers from seeing where they end even when worn with a miniskirt.

In a similar spirit, British designer Henry Holland has produced a range of tights for Pretty Polly (see bottom left) with trompe l'oeil stockings and knee-high socks drawn on. Look, they seem to be saying, we're not stockings, we're self-referential tights with a sense of humour! The packets show models in joyful 60s-style poses – knock-kneed in clumpy platforms, legs bent ready to jump. These are the action shots of the tights world, "outgoing and exciting", Holland says, and the allusion to the 60s is not accidental.

For if years of complacency have taught us to see tights as restrictive, depressingly heralding winter, this was not always the case. Back in the early 60s when tights began to edge out stockings, they promised liberation. "Absolutely!" says Mary Quant, who thinks she was the first in London to stock them and speaks as enthusiastically of tights now as perhaps she did when she first persuaded one Mr Curry of the Nylon Hosiery Company on Oxford Street that it would be worth his while to acquire the machinery from theatrical manufacturers to make them in large numbers. "They just didn't exist, you see. I so wanted tights. I think they're wonderfully comfortable. They are warm and comforting and not at all inhibiting and," she pauses, "they're so bendy! And flattering. Gosh, they're flattering!"

Quant soon convinced JC Penney, with its 1,765 stores in the US, that it should stock tights too, and after that "I could do no wrong in their eyes," such were the sales figures. Shulman thinks that a similar economic revolution in hosiery may be happening now. "Tights," she says, "are a new area to do something with. If [a design house] can produce their own tights it's another area of business." Thus a pair by Alexander McQueen will set you back £59. It's £79 for a pair at Marni, £180 for gold-coloured hose at Chanel and about $1,400 (£860) for those Marc Jacobs tights-alikes. "Historically, legwear was always an afterthought," says operations director Matthew Drinkwater of the Japanese legwear specialist Tabio. "Now you see people building their outfits around it."

Indeed. And with skirts staying short for autumn, shorts staying put and cuissardes (a word we're all going to learn over the next few months: that's thigh-high boots) proliferating, all eyes are on the legs.

There are three ways to go with this. You can pretend it isn't happening and stick with black opaques, as favoured by everyone from Kate Moss to Karren Brady. Shulman swears by Wolford's Velvet De Luxe black opaques and bulk buys at the start of each winter, as does Alice Rawsthorn, design critic of the International Herald Tribune (that counts as heavy backing). You can get the same look, though perhaps not the same longevity, at John Lewis, which does a much better, truer black than Marks & Spencer for the same price, and in enough different sizes to ensure a reasonable fit. Avoid Topshop – its tights come in only one size. The second is to tackle the problem head on and decide that, since tights are where it's at this season, this is the year to enjoy them. Any departure from black or grey would count as adventurous in the office, and the right pair of strident tights can turn a dull dress into a great outfit.

Last, you could work your tights aggression out of your system in the way Kate Moss has in the advertisements for her new Topshop collection, or Scarlett Johansson in her campaign for Mango – by wearing them laddered. If you can't love your tights, then turn on them. At least this way, snags won't be a problem.

A Couple Rossi Morreale and Kacey Coppola Get Married

A Couple Rossi Morreale and Kacey Coppola Get Married

Rossi Morreale, host of ABC’s “Dancing in the Dark,” married Kacey Coppola, one half of identical twin country duo Kate and Kacey, on August 7. The barefoot beach wedding took place at the Grande Antigua Resort and Spa in front of 60 guests. According to ETonline, the couple were married by Morreale’s childhood minister and an Antiguan marriage officer. Kacey’s twin sister Kate served as “twin of honor” while their older sister Kara was matron of honor. (Kacey took on maid of honor duties in Kate’s Colorado wedding last year.) Morreale and Coppola met on the set of “Can You Duet” in 2008. They got engaged in Playa Del Carmen.

My Quick FOTD

Didn't have much time to get ready, but even when I do, lately, this is pretty much the make-up I use: foundation, concealer, pressed powder, liner and blush (alternating brands and colors of course). I like keeping it simple, because 1. it's quicker to get out the door if I'm late and 2. it's easier not to mess up.

Ha, this picture is kind of unflattering, but rest assured, I don't have a beard.. :/
Foundation: Revlon Colorstay in shade 310
Concealer (under eyes): Coastal Scents Camo Quad in Medium
Pressed powder by Maybelline
Eyeliner: Rimmel Eyeshadow in Jet Black applied wet
Brows: Estee Lauder liner in black and Anastasia Brow Wax pencil
Highlight: MAC Dream Maker eyeshadow
Blush: Korres Zea Mays in Orange applied lightly

For the brow highlight I used MAC Dream Maker, then I noticed it's more of a gold frost (but still pretty- specially paired with this orange and gold blush!), so I think next time I'll be switching to MAC Shroom instead for daytime, and use this for evening looks.

Polyvore Outfit of the Week- Lets be a Lady

Lets be a lady

This is my take on the lady-like trend. I would love to try this trend but can't find a full skirt anywhere in stores for the life of me! Not like the one above, anyways. I thought the top was just adorable and looked perfect for this look. I was looking for a pair of black heels but then I saw these, I thought they matched perfectly and made the look complete. Love the handbag as well, just lovely! Can I have this outfit now? I really like this trend because sometimes mini-skirts are not always appropriate or right for the occasion. This would look great for at the office, shopping, running errands and even a date!

What do you think of the lady-like trend?

Beauty Steal Of The Week

Ever so often Sephora has some really amazing deals and I just came across this while browsing the website: for $29 you get the whole kit pictured above (that's just $1 more than what you pay for the blush alone!).
I already have Benefit's Coralista and Eye Bright ($20) so couldn't justify buying the same products again, but this is great for those of you who've wanted to try any of these out.

Description from Sephora.com:

This kit is the perfect gift for the beauty obsessed and includes an array of face-brightening products including: one full-size Coralista coral-pink cheek powder, one full-size Eye Bright instant eye brightener, and deluxe minis of "That Gal" brightening face primer and BADgal Lash mascara.

Product Review: L'Oreal HiP Eyeshadow Duo - Electrified, A

Hey all! Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Up for review today is one of L'Oreal's HiP Eyeshadow Duos, the shade is called "Electrified."

Here's a crappy picture from Target's website:

This duo retails for $5.99-$6.99 in your typical big box retails and drugstores, but I will say that this particular shade seems to be more difficult to come by.

Deets from L'Oreal:
  • Shades are high-pearl, luminous, rich colors that can be used to create an elegant and edgy metallic eye look
  • Each shade combination is developed to create a striking, complete eye look
  • The lighter shade can be used for all-over luminous color and the darker shade can be used to contour and define the eye for maximum impact
  • Crease-resistant, long-wearing color duo includes a shadow applicator
And my review:

The Good: The colors are looooovely...seriously, the mink colored shade is just so pretty and I imagine it would be pretty on almost any eye color. And it's super easy to vamp it up at night with the eggplant shade next to it. The best part is that these shadows really stay true to your lids and their color all day, as long as you use an eye shadow primer.

The Bad: I got nothin' here!

The Verdict: LOVE. A definite rebuy for me, especially considering the affordability and long wear.
