One way to really bring out the natural color of your eyes is by lining your lids with a matching colored eyeliner. But this isn't an easy trick to pull off! The Hills star Stephanie Pratt, however, showed us how to wear it right when she attended an event last week in Los Angeles wearing blue eyeliner and red eye shadow. Look at how the liner brings out her baby blues! So, what's the secret? "She balances the look by leaving everything else — her skin and lips — fresh and clean," Marc Reagan, the director of artistry at Bobbi Brown, told us. GET THE LOOK ...
STEP 1
Sweep a flesh-toned eyeshadow like CoverGirl Eye Enhancers 1-Kit Shadow in French Vanilla ($2.39, drugstore.com) all over lids, up to the browbone. This one acts like an eye primer, too, so your handy work stays crease-free all day.
STEP 2
Brush a reddish-brown shadow like Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Roach ($17, drugstore.com) from lash line to crease. Or, try the Duo Eyeshadow by Nars in Brazil, which comes with two red-based hues ($32). "Red tones are tough to wear around eyes because they can make you look sleepy," says Reagan. "The reason it works here is because everything about Stephanie's skin has been perfected." Bottom Line: Make sure you wear a little concealer to disguise any blemishes — they'll look redder if you don't!
STEP 3
Define your natural eye hue by smudging a blue liner on the lower lash line (as close to the inner rim as possible). We HEART: M.A.C. Technakhol Liner in Smoothblue ($14, maccosmetics.com). If you're a brown-eyed girl use a purple liner instead for the same eye-opening results.
STEP 4
Finish the look with a swipe of black gel eyeliner (Maybelline's Eye Studio Gel Liner in Black, $7.59) and two coats of black mascara (try L'Oreal's Telescopic Explosion Breakthrough Mascara in Blackest Black, $9.49).
